NPR Homeowners Optimistic After Court Order - Real Estate India

??|?? January 12, 2013 ?? 03:20pm ??|Contributed by manoja

After the high court recently rejected an appeal against land acquisition for the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), homebuyers and developers see a ray of hope for the much-delayed link road.

The owner of a cosmetic manufacturing unit had challenged the acquisition of her property that falls on the 18-kilometre-long expressway. Amid several pending litigations over the disputed four-kilometre-stretch of the road, also called Dwarka Expressway, the court had stayed construction on the patch.
Work on the remaining 14 kilometres has also been progressing at a snail?s pace.

A total of 276 house and plot owners had moved court after land acquisition notices were issued to them in 2008. About 20 farmers and other commercial establishments had also challenged the move.

On the other hand, more than 100 private developers have planned residential and commercial projects all along this expressway.

?The court order has set a precedent for other litigants and indicates that the state government would get a favourable decision in other cases as well. We hope the court would acknowledge the fact that the NPR project is in larger public interest,? said a homeowner who had booked a flat in sector 109.

The NPR, being developed under the public private partnership (PPP) model, will connect Dwarka with National Highway-8 at Kherki Daula and will pass Pataudi Road.

European Football Saturday Round-up

A round-up of results from leagues around Europe.

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Braga missed the chance to strengthen their grip on third place in the Portuguese Liga after slipping to a 3-2 loss at Nacional.

Braga took the lead through Helder Barbosa in the 37th minute, but efforts by Edson Mexer (58) and Diego Barcelos (60) allied to Ismaily's 77th-minute own goal ensured the points went to Nacional.

Antonio Eder pulled one back for Braga in the 83rd minute, but a minute later the visitors lost Hugo Viana to a second yellow card.

In the day's other game, Amido Balde's 90th-minute strike rescued a 1-1 draw for Guimaraes at home to Maritimo, who took the lead through Danilo Dias in the second minute but were made to pay for the 72nd-minute dismissal of Marcio Rosario.

French Ligue 1

Lyon took full advantage of their opportunity to return to the top of Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win over Troyes at the Stade de L'Aube this evening.

Following Paris St Germain's draw with Ajaccio on Friday, Les Gones had Maxime Gonalons (11) and Samuel Umtiti (75) to thank for the goals that took them two points clear of the capital club.

Defeat for second-bottom Troyes, who replied through Benjamin Nivet in the 38th minute, leaves them six points adrift of safety after one win in 11 matches.

Yoan Gouffran (57) and Henri Saivet (66) scored the goals as Bordeaux defeated Rennes 2-0.

Rennes went into the game in fourth place and looking to close the gap on the top three but Bordeaux had other ideas to record their first win since mid-November.

Gaetan Charbonnier's late double lifted Montpellier to their fourth straight home win with a 2-0 triumph over Lorient.

Charbonnier struck 11 minutes from time and again at the death to condemn Lorient to a first defeat in six on their return from the winter break.

The win takes Montpellier into eighth, two points behind Lorient who drop to sixth.

Managerless Nancy came from behind twice to earn an impressive 2-2 draw against Lille.

Ligue 1's basement club went into the game winless in the league since the season's opening day and having been rocked by the resignation of coach Jean Fernandez.

Head of youth Patrick Gabriel stepped in as caretaker but had just one training session with the team, and saw his charges fall behind after only a minute to Nolan Roux's goal.

But Romain Grange equalised and, after Dimitri Payet restored Lille's lead, Thomas Ayasse volleyed a second leveller.

The draw leaves Lille with only two wins in eight games, denting their European ambitions, while Nancy are now seven points adrift of safety after a seventh draw in eight league games.

Struggling Evian had goalkeeper Bertrand Laquait sent off early on as they slipped to a third straight loss in a 2-0 reverse at home to Brest.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men after 14 minutes when Laquait conceded a penalty for bringing down Eden Ben Basat when through on goal.

Ben Basat took the spot-kick himself, beating replacement keeper Stephan Andersen.

Evian did well to stay in the game despite being a man down, but Bruno Grougi added a second at the death to seal Brest's win.

Greek Superleague

Olympiacos moved 11 points clear at the top of the Greek Superleague thanks to a last-minute 1-0 win at Levadiakos.

Rafik Djebbour scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to strengthen the hosts' position at the top of the table.

AEK Athens claimed a much-needed win in the fight against relegation as Antonis Petropoulos' 68th-minute goal earned them a 1-0 win at home to FC Xanthi.

In the day's other game, Panthrakikos drew 1-1 at home to Platanias.

Thomas Nazlidis put Platanias ahead in the 51st minute, but Minas Tzanis' own goal after 66 minutes meant the game ended all square.

One more use for your tax refund: Take control of your debt

(BPT) - If you?re anticipating a tax refund this year, chances are you?ve already thought about how you?ll spend the money. Maybe you?ll pay bills, fund your summer vacation or treat yourself to something nice. Here?s one more excellent use for your tax refund: take control of your debt.

?From bolstering your savings to paying off high-interest credit card debt, your tax return can go a long way toward helping you get on top of your finances. Here are six ways to use your refund and have a positive impact on your financial wellbeing:
Build up your emergency fund - Everyone should have an emergency fund of enough cash set aside to cover several months worth of expenses should you lose your job. It can be difficult, however, to regularly route money from your paycheck into your backup fund. Tax return money is a great way to give your emergency fund a quick growth spurt.

Pay off high-interest debt - High-interest debt costs you in so many ways, from the expense of paying interest to the negative impact too much debt can have on your credit score or even the risk of falling behind on paying bills. If you decide to use your refund to pay off credit card bills, prioritize: pay off ones that have missed payments or that cost you the most in interest.

Repay cash advances or payday loans - Although there?s almost never a good enough reason to take on one of these very costly types of loans, the reality is many people turn to payday loans or cash advances to make ends meet. The effective interest rate on this type of loan can be astronomical, so using your refund to pay them off can help you catch up on debt.

Save toward a goal - Maybe you want to buy a house within the next five years, or need to replace your tired, worn-out car. Or, perhaps you just dream of a flat-screen in your living room. Virtually everyone has a big-ticket item they would like to buy. If your refund isn?t enough to cover the cost, it can be a great starting point and a motivator to continue saving toward your specific goal.

Beef up your IRA/401(k) - If you haven?t yet contributed the maximum allowable amount to your retirement fund this year, your tax refund can help you make the most of your retirement savings. Check with your plan administrator to be sure what the limits are and contribute extra if you?re not at the limit.

Keep on top of your credit - If understanding your credit is an objective (and it should be for everyone), consider enrolling in a monitoring product like freecreditscore.com. Websites like freecreditscore.com offer the chance to get credit score alerts, identity protection alerts, and fraud resolution support if you find an error on your credit report. Credit reports and monthly statements can help you stay on top of your credit so you can notice any immediate changes.

Reward yourself - If you?ve been diligent about staying on top of your credit and finances throughout the year, there?s nothing wrong with using part of your tax refund to reward yourself. Maybe you?ll take that day trip you?ve been planning or purchase that handbag you?ve had your eye on. It?s OK to reward yourself for a job well done ? as long as you make sure to use the lion?s share of your refund to help you move closer to your financial goals.
