Bad news for Steve Martin.
Turns out the comedian purchased a very expensive painting back in July 2004 at the Cazeau-B?raudi?re Gallery in Paris paying about $850,000 for Heinrich Campendonk?s Landscape With Horses pictured above.
Martin then sold it in February 2006 at a Christie?s auction for about $200,000 less than what he paid. Tough times for all it seems.
Even worse though, turns out the painting was a FAKE!
Fortunately for Martin, he sold the painting before it was determined to be a forgery. And being the funnyman that he is, Martin took to his Twitter account and posted:
"I was also once duped by a German vegetarian salad that was loaded with ham."
Apparently the forgery was made by Wolfgang Beltracchi, an accused leader of a forgery ring which has been around for decades.
