Eric Stoltz has been cast as the lead in Lifetime's dramedy pilot Modern Love, Deadline.com reports.
The series, from Sex and the City's Jenny Bicks, is based on a series of columns published in The New York Times. Stoltz will star as science editor Simon McElvane, who's facing a deteriorating marriage. He unexpectedly has to take over the paper's Modern Love column.

Bicks will executive-produce alongside Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun, Gene Stein and Alan Poul (Six Feet Under, Swingtown).
The 49-year-old actor is best known for his roles in Mask, Kicking and Screaming and, more recently, Syfy's Caprica.
