Barclays moves PPI claims-handling in-house; 300 jobs to go

Hundreds of payment protection insurance (PPI) complaint handlers working on behalf of Barclaycard have been given their notice three weeks ahead of schedule, according to reports.

The Times?reported that the 300 claims handlers, who were employed by?Deloitte but handled complaints for Barclaycard, have had their contracts terminated.

Barclays said it had move PPI claims-handling in-house.

Earlier this year Deloitte hit the headlines for its handling of PPI complaints in behalf of Lloyds Banking Group after an undercover Times investigation uncovered poor practice and breaches of customer privacy under the Data Protection Act.

Lloyds terminated its contract with Deloitte and said it was investigating the issue.
