Former Saint Peter's men's basketball standout Keydren Clark scored nine points to help Minnesota down Portland 72-66 in the 2013 NBA Las Vegas Summer League on Friday.
Clark came off the bench and connected on three of his four field goal attempts from behind the arc to finish with nine points. Clark also added a rebound in 17:14 minutes of action against the Trail Blazers in his final game at the Las Vegas Summer League.
The Peacocks' all-time leading scorer paced the Timberwolves with 8.7 points per game in the six games and also added 2.0 rebounds per game and seven assists. Clark shot 20-for-37 from the floor and 12 of 23 from behind the arc to finish with a team-high 52 points. Clark also paced the team with 115 minutes played after making three starts and coming off the bench three times.
Clark posted a tournament-high 12 points in the opener against the D-League Select on July 13 and then registered 10 points in his next game two days later against Phoenix for his only two 10-point performances in the week.
Minnesota finished 3-3 in the tournament and won three of its last four contests.
Clark played professionally in Europe for the last six seasons in Greece and Italy. He has played in 163 games regular season games between the two countries and scored 2,399 points to average 14.7 points per game in his professional career. Clark was the Greek League Top Scorer in 2007 and 2009.
Clark played at Saint Peter's from 2002-06 and holds nine career records, including points (3,058), scoring average (25.9 ppg.), field goals (967), field goals attempted (2407), 3-point field goals (435), 3-point field goals attempted (1192), free throws (689), free throws attempted (806) and steals (265) while ranking second in assists (501) and 20th in rebounding (466). He holds the Top-4 single-season scoring marks after registering at least 721 points in each of his four seasons in Jersey City. Clark was the NCAA scoring leader in 2004 (26.7 ppg.) and 2005 (25.8 ppg.).
Clark was a highly decorated award winner in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in his career after being named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and All-MAAC second team as a freshman and then was named to the All-MAAC first team in his final three seasons. Clark also earned the NIT/Haggerty Award in 2005.
