Isaac Maselera, 20, was stopped by police about 1:35 a.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of East 71st Street, according to an arrest report.
An officer observed that the silver 2007 Mazda he was driving had not gone through the intersection at a traffic signal after the light changed three times, the report said.
The report states that Maselera was sitting in the driver's seat "passed out with his foot on the brake."
Maselera later failed a field sobriety test, the report said.
Maselera told police that he had taken a single Xanax tablet and smoked marijuana about five hours earlier, the report said.
He was booked into the Tulsa Jail about 3:30 a.m. on a complaint of driving under the influence of drugs, jail records show. Maselera was released from custody at 11:52 a.m. after posting a $750 bond.
Maselera, a then-backup safety at OSU from Glenpool, received a deferred sentence in October after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in Payne County District Court, records show.
He was arrested June 25, 2012, after OSU campus police found a grinder that smelled like fresh marijuana in Maselera's dorm room.
Maselera was dismissed from the OSU football team in October for a violation of team rules.
